Q: How much are your cakes?
A: It depends on the cake type, size, shape, filling, frosting, and decorations. Our cakes range in price starting at $1.75 per slice
(for our smallest sized Traditional Cake) and up. 3D and fondant detailed/covered cakes cost significantly more due to the cost of the materials, labor and design.
Q: What size cakes do you have?
A: We offer many cake sizes including Traditional pan sizes, character pans, and 3D cakes.
Q: What are your Traditional pan sizes?
A: Round = 6,8,10, 12, 14 and 16
Sheets = Quarter, Half, and Full
Q: What Traditional cake flavors do you offer?
Chocolate, Vanilla, Marble and White
Q: What types of frostings do you offer?
A Our Traditional frosting is Citrus. This is the same recipe that our family has used for over 80 years! We also offer Buttercream, Whipped Cream, and Chocolate.
Q: Do you offer cakes with rolled fondant?
A: Yes, we offer non-traditional cakes that can be covered with rolled fondant or have fondant accents. We use a thin layer of
Buttercream frosting before covering cakes with fondant.
Q: What is rolled fondant?
A: Simply stated, it is an edible covering made from sugar. It is initially the consistency of play-doh and stiffens when dry (similar to a Necco Wafer). It serves a dual purpose: for decoration as well as to preserve the freshness of the cake. Fondant is edible, but many people peel off the covering before eating the cake. It should be noted that fondant tends to break down with humidity (including refrigeration and hot/humid temperatures).
Q: I saw a cake on Cake Boss/Ace of Cakes that I like. Will you make it for me?
A: Charm City Cakes and Cake Boss have teams of cake artists, designers, decorators and apprentices that work full-time. If you visit the Ace of Cakes (Charm City Cakes) link you will see that their minimum order is $1000. According to the Cake Boss Website (Carlos Bakery) you will see the following: Any specialty cake is priced per person; basic butter cream cakes start at $8.00 per person and go up from there. A good rule of thumb is to look at cakes that are featured in any magazines or publications; they are usually priced in the $12.00 to $18.00 range per person. The more elaborate, intricate, and time consuming the cake is, the greater price range you will be looking at.
